Academics LOVE to complicate things whenever they can. Anthropogenic
noise is an arcane term made up of non-related linguistic roots,
contains 6 syllables, and is a helluva mouthful to say. Anthrophony --
with a Greek prefix and suffix, tells the same story in a third less
syllables, is simpler to say/read/understand. Much more resonant and
to the point for those who love language and its origins.
