Re: SASS construction/design question

For whatever little it might be worth, the first (and so far only) micropho=
ne "array" I ever made was simply a small block of 3/4" mahogany (I happene=
d to have lying around) in the shape of a triangle. The capsules were at 90=
degrees and 2 inches apart. I always liked the stereo image of that little=
thing much better than my Rode NT4.

Although, as you say, the EM172s are so affordable that an external array p=
robably makes more sense, adding a foam baffle to the M10 seems like a wort=
hwhile experiment to me. Let us know how it goes!

I keep almost getting a PCM-M10 (to replace my Hi-MD which is great except =
for its mechanical noise), but still holding out for something with the mic=
s of the M10 and the preamps of the D50.

Best wishes,

John

one of those acoustic functions, since the spacing & baffling between mics =
won't be changed. Probably about the best that could be done to alter the M=
10 would be to incorporate it into a Jecklin disk array. I have no idea if =
you would find an improvement in stereo image, but it would be a lot easier=
 to construct.
