Erik,
I have heard some truly lovely stereo recordings made with a DIY SASS
that had a solid baffle, the whole unit was made out of balsa wood.
The maker had not fully understood what materials were supposed to be
used but he may have come up with something even better!
I have not heard a direct comparison between a SASS with a solid
baffle, and one with an open-cell foam baffle. I imagine the stereo
image might be more pronounced with a solid baffle.
Not sure where you would buy solid foam blocks in Sweden or Europe.
The blocks I buy in Australia are called 'yoga blocks'. You could
try Google to find a closer sales outlet.
