Hi again Peter,

For ideas on birdsong analysis using sonograms I forgot to mention that
there is a 496 page book "The Singing Life of Birds: The Art and Science
of Listening to Birdsong" by Dr. Donald Kroodsma, UMass Amherst, which
comes with a companion CD containing 97 tracks of birdsong and 1 track
of a human voice. Raven Lite can be used to open, play, and visualize
all tracks on the CD. The spectrogram graphics in Dr. Kroodsma's book
were all produced using Raven, which has the same underlying technology
as Raven Lite. The whole of the book is based around analysis of
birdsongs using sonograms. Of course it is US based.

Amazon presently have the paperback version on special at $6.78 plus
shipping (down from $16.95) - 2 copies left. I got my copy some 18 plus
months ago from Borders in NSW when they had shops - they could still
have a copy on their online shop.

Usual disclaimer - no connection with any firms mentioned in this email
and my previous one, only a satisfied customer.

Regards
Ian
