Last week I was eager to take my new kit out for the first time - 2 x AT402=
2's & a Fostex FR2-LE, in this DIY parallel boundary array http://marcander=
son.photoshelter.com/gallery/Boundary-Array/G0000rRa7AjyeKTQ so despite the=
slightly windy day, I visited Cattai National Park to the north west of Sy=
dney.

I was a bit disappointed with the results mainly due to the wind noise & ot=
her unwanted background noises like cars etc. It looks like I am going to h=
ave to find some much quieter places than the one I was at!

Any suggestions on how I can improve these recordings would be much appreci=
ated.

Also, I was guessing at what levels to set the Fostex at. I set the Mic Tri=
m levels at about 80% and the Main Recording Level at 100% (which still was=
not peaking with even the loudest bird sounds) . After searching the forum=
for more info on this it seems that setting the levels a little lower migh=
t be a better option. Any comments on this from those who are using this eq=
uipment?

Finally, my DIY parallel boundary array wouldn't win any awards for craftsm=
anship, and as I am not much of a handyman or designer (or sound recordist =
yet!), can you see any problems with this setup - see pics here - http://ma=
rcanderson.photoshelter.com/gallery/Boundary-Array/G0000rRa7AjyeKTQ - I ma=
de it from ultralight balsa wood.

Thanks for any help.
