I have not used the e100s, but the cheap multi-pattern one.
It starts to make a quite audible scratchy noise as soon as it gets a
little cold or humid. Below 10C is enough. The NT1A works all the
time under the same conditions.
It is a typical condensor capsule noise and let=C2=B4s hope that they are
not using the same capsule in the e100s.
Apart from electronic sophistication, the ways of getting a low
self-noise is by having a slack membrane / small distance between
electrode and membrane / high polarization voltage - all of them
hazardous when it comes to humidity.
