I, too, like the idea of using an Olympus for band rehearsals.
But I may want one myself for quiet recordings as well as music.

If you'll permit - one futher question re the Olympus ls-11.

Apparently from according to a link in Robin's review, the line-in is not
affected by built in bass roll off (lack of
base). http://forums.oreilly.com/topic/54-olympus-ls-10/page__st__20__p__96=
0#entry960

Could one achieve "compatibility with pro quality input level," by using an=
 good
external mic and a phantom powered unit like the Rolls PB224?

In other words, since on-board mics and external PIP mics used with the mic=

input are both effected by the bass roll off, could you use the Olympus lin=
e in
to get a good recording of an orchestra or nature sounds?

I'm sorry I don't understand measurements such as +4dBV.
I can understand the following chart lines which show what would be missing=
 from
a recording using the mic input. http://tinyurl.com/3dfb7g5

Gratefully,
lily
