I don't think any handheld will do the entire job, but as an 
alternative handheld I use a Tascam DR-100 with four built in mice (2 
omni), XLR inputs with phantom power, 2 second pre-record, and auto 
pause, all of which I use.

I can hear mic hiss off MKH mics so the input noise is low enough with 
higher gain mics and one feature I particularly like is a slider 
switch for inputs so you can put a voice ident on recordings while 
still running. The biggest snag is not much over one hour on a battery 
when using phantom power. System noise is about bit 13 which is a 
dynamic range of 78dB compared with an environmental range of ~46dB 
here, so I've got 32dB leeway even if I don't use my SQN mixer.
