Your recording made me inclined to believe that a boundary array using omni=
s can add a lot to the sensation of depth. I hear the cow calls far behind =
the speakers, all the way past the house area itself. It's outstanding!
I'm planning to build an array with 5 mics, because many of my jobs are mea=
nt to be played in 5.1 halls, and the mixing guys do bother with the `missi=
ng' center channel. They are not wrong at that as one can feel the absence =
of sound coming from the center speaker in theaters in which LR speakers ar=
e at least 60 feet apart, even if it's `ambience' sound. I don't know yet h=
ow exactly I'm going to manage to make a barrier between the center mic and=
the sides, and I know that some testing will be needed, accepting the fact=
that my LR image won't be as good as if I didn't need to add something bet=
ween the side mics.
As I never commented the great recordings that have been shared here =96 I =
have to say that I rarely have had the opportunity to listen to them lately=
, because I'm on a working `binge' for the last couple of months =96 I'd li=
ke to do it now, congratulating the world around sounds by Martyn Stewart =
=96 the wind recordings are very nice too =96, John Hartog's Robin Crescend=
o, Paul Jacobson's fantastic lyrebird and rufous whistler songs, David Brin=
icombes' rain through his Brinihorn, Hannu J=E4nnes' Finland soundscapes, R=
ick Munday and Danny Meltzer water sounds et al.
Thanks for the sounds and knowledge shared here.
Best,
