Well of course you are right ;-)
Tomorrow I will set the mike stand nearer the frogs, and put the preamp and=
recorder on a little table and then walk away and see if they start up aga=
in. And there will be fireworks again, i guess...more spacemonkeys. The f=
rogs actually shut up during the loudest of the explosions even though the =
fireworks are far away and soft sounding -- bight be the envelope character=
istics ---like a big frog far away...
Someone suggested off list to me that I consider using the XLR line outputs=
of the MP2 into the line in of the M10, instead of using the 'consumer tap=
e out' of the MP2. That sounds like a good idea, if it is ok to use someth=
ing like the
Hosa Y adapter:
"CYX-402F -- This cable is wired mini-phone Tip to Pin 2 LEFT channel, Ri=
ng to Pin 2 RIGHT channel, and sleeve to Pins 1 and 3 on both XLR connector=
s."
without losing too much level or causing grounding probs.....seems like it =
should work, according to the MP-2 instructions. If the M10 line-input is r=
eally able to stand +24dB without clipping, then the (? nominal +4dB) line =
out of the MP-2 should be fine, and more useful than the (? nominal -10dB) =
"tape out" I have been using. I checked the instructions, but they don't c=
all out specific output levels, just 'consumer' vs. standard. I'm assuming=
the usual conventions.
Other MP-2 users/wizards -- is this ok and will it get me 10dB better (elec=
trical) S/N?
