I recently travelled to Massachusetts and had a similar difficulty finding a human-noise free location to record. I finally found a fairly good location but had to drive 3 hours from Boston to get there. It's a devilishly difficult hobby we have, trying to find a place that just sounds natural. Most of the sounds that intrude on my peace, vehicles, planes, trains, lawn mowers, chain saws, off-road vehicles, boats, ect. are making the noise by burning fossil fuels. It makes me dream of a time when we could get along without burning the stuff. I know I burn it along with all the rest. Now with the ocean oil leak and climate disturbance and all. it makes the deal we've made with the devil look ever more grim. Kevin |
