Thanks Mike.

The link you provided below, to the electric and magnetic fields around 11k=
V lines, has certainly made me feel better. I was beginning to worry that a=
ll future recordings with the LS-10 might be infected with random clicks an=
d pops. I was using the internal mics and was close enough to be in both ty=
pes of field, so I'll assume that was the cause of the problem, and avoid a=
reas of high EMF from now on.

Cheers,

Greg

can't see a definitive answer to the problem. Today, for Valentine's Day, I=
was given my first series of clicks and pops. These occurred separately, i=
n the Right and Left channels. The one thing that was different from my pre=
vious recording locations, was that I was quite close to an 11,000 Volt pow=
er line transformer. A Peaceful Dove (Geopelia placida) was calling from on=
e of the high tension lines. The recorder was mounted on a small metal and =
plastic tripod sitting on the footpath. I am wondering if the presence of t=
he transformer and power lines may have something to do with the generation=
 of the clicks and pops?
