Hi Vicki, As you are far more experienced than me, I'm sure you've thought of this, b= ut........... could it be a corrupted file? Have you downloaded another and= tried? I'm old with damaged hearing, but I listened again to this recordin= g today, via my Asus Xonar Essence STX card and HD280 cans, and was unable = to detect any artifacts at all. If there are any, all I can say is I'm glad= I can't hear them! I've never heard loons before and was entranced by thei= r eerie calls; a real treat.
