Rob,

"Save Source As" was definitely crippled in Safari 4.x. And the audio
volume control was replaced with simple mute/unmute function. Too bad.

I might be overlooking a more profound explanation or solution, but as
you indicate, Firefox still seems to handle media files the way we are
familiar with -- at least on my system: MacBook Pro 2.6 Ghz Core Duo,
OS X 10.5.8, QuickTime Pro 7.6.4, Safari 4.0.3, Firefox 3.5.3.
