Hi,
Most directional is questionable since nearly all mount the mics in the
body and as a result the stereo image tends to be very narrow. Many moons ago I
started with the Edirol R09HR and attempted making a jecklin disk to improve
the stereo image. I ended up down a path that lead to binaural head
construction and lately my efforts are with a small portable binaural rig thats
100mm x 80mm. - Still in the testing phase, when it survives being dragged
though mud and a torrential downpour Ill be happy.
Not quite a nature example, but heres a small plane flying past the rig during
one test:-

The microphone will feature waterproof low noise (14dBA) capsules with high
sensitivity.

Mike.
