I've had good luck recording everything flat, but here and there, I have
tweaked the EQ to get rid of those low sounds. I *use* studio monitors, but
sometimes they're maybe less forgiving than I wish they were, for this
application anyway.
For basic editing, like getting rid of man-made sounds, I use my computer
speakers and turn the subwoofer down.
