It's a sad world indeed (for the nature recordist) Peaceful solitude
is so hard to find anymore and i've been to over 33 countries, third
world countries are becoming the same, Dogs, roosters, mopeds!
I was with an incredible guide that took me to the places I wanted to
be and even he was oblivious to the din that we homo sapiens make. He
told me of a place that was so pristine that all I would hear was
insects and bird sound, he told me that he had such a sensitive ear
that anything else other than birds etc would stand out. I went and
packed up after 15 minuets. The brain filters out what it doesn't want
to process, I played him a short sound bite after and he was bamboozled!
My advice is to find as many quiet places on the planet and get them
recorded before it is too late. I have many biomes over 30 years that
have become extinct, it breaks my heart..
Thanks, George for reading.
