Good grief!!! What the hell did I say to warrant this outburst?

This is Doug Von Gausig's list and NOT mine, I moderate this list for
him and I'm proud to do it. I try to keep everything in perspective
and keep the topic on "Nature recordists"
Too often this group will come up with every piece of equipment out
there but never try it in the field,

You ask if I put it over my shoulder, went outside to record, blah,
blah blah... That is NOT testing the machine in an environment that
this group is supposed to be focused on.. I'm sure if I went outside
and recorded in the street the recorder would have done an excellent
job, Is that your idea of testing? If Nagra wanted me to take it to
Central or South America to try it I would but I would NOT buy one
until I knew it worked in the conditions I expect it to work in!

This Group IS for nature recordists, there are not many options in the
field that allow you to use versatile equipment. I can give you many
examples of expensive gear failing in high humidity and the cheaper
equipment preforming better. Bernie Krause will tell you his
experience with Sony ecm-55b mics @ $177 each that out preformed
$30,000 ones!

I will not go on because it's plainly obvious I'm knocking my head
against a stone wall. For over 30 years i have been in environments
unforgiving and used equipment that has held me in good stead, your
probably a good recordist but i don't believe you understand this side
of the business...
