The mod circuitry might provide some improvement,
but Radio Shack used to sell very inexpensive,
-40dB "attenuating" adapters that seem to perform
a similar function. I've used them for connecting
line level sources like lower cost audio mixers
to consumer devices like camcorders with stereo
mic input jacks and no line inputs. Radio Shack
has some connector cables with attenuation on
their website, but I can't find the preferable
the RCA->3.5mm adapters.

Is the noise and dynamic range performance with
the attenuation inserted into the mic circuit be
compromised compared to using a simpler, -10dB
line circuit? Rob D.
