Maybe there is a messages to be taken home. If you want your stereo recording to sound good mixed or separated to mono for whatever reason, then it doesn't really matter what microphone configuration you are using as long as you record with the intention it will be used as mono. Maybe that means monitoring in both mono and stereo until you get knack of it. Myself, I focus on getting the best stereo recordings I can, and I am not concerned at all about mono compatibility. For me this is creative art, and unless commissioned, I set my own standards. John Hartog |
