Maybe you could just steal the tail and stitch it back up. The dog may
be none the wiser to the lost part.

By the way, I think Vicki's design incorporates dead space between the
fuzzy and the mics. This can be an advantage. I intend to use the rest
of the tail to create another fuzzy that has a firm frame to create
that space. There's also a hedgehog looking toy over there that may
work better....
