This aspect has always held some curiosity. We usually get to hear the finished product but rarely, have I ever gotten to hear the original "raw" sample and it's final polished output together. The opportunity to hear that kind of comparison would be just as valuable, if not more so, than knowing what "settings" were used since every recording is different in some way. I agree on things being over-done: there's no difficulty in using NR filters to turn one's bouyant but "noisy" recording into a slurried cellphone, tin can, or submerged result. |
