I'll be using a Sound Devices 702T to record Humpback and Fin whales from late June through August. Can anyone speak to the relative merits of the Cetacean Research hydrophones C54XRS SQ-26 and the DPA hydrophone 8011? The DPA, at $2600, is expensive. Does anyone know of a company that rents it? Finally, I've seen a number of references, quite old, to hydrophones made by Bevery Ford in Vancouver. I found an email address, but it no longer works. Does anyone know whether she still makes hydrophones and, if not, whether her hydrophones surface second-hand? Are they of comparable quality to the Cetacean Research and DPA models for this application? Thanks. |
