Recording nature is more than just Bird sounds, it's a capture of the
natural soundscape and the species that occupy it. There is a
significant difference to audio recording and nature recording, I have
been in the field for over 35 years, many audio technicians have
ventured out with me and found it so different to what they are
accustomed to. Using techniques in the studio are very different to
the field. Many people I have been with simply do not have the
patience. A sound studio is a total different environment to a
tropical rainforest or a freezing cold environment. This is why I
welcome testing of gear actually in the field. I personally dont think
there is a recorder out there to beat the sound devices 7* series. I
would never venture out to the tropics or the cold arctic without my
trusted MKH series microphones too. I've literally dropped my mics in
water and they have preformed brilliantly. I have just returned with
recordings from PNG, Queensland and Puerto Rico with this equipment
but before i set out i was extremely confident they would preform to a
high quality...
