I've been recently had the opportunity to evaluate a set of Sennheiser
MKH 8040 cardioid mics. I finally had a chance to take them into the
field this weekend. I recorded them side by side with my Schoeps MK21
wide cardioids, both in an ORTF configuration. Note that they are
slightly different patterns.
The files below have been have been volume matched to the best of my
ability. There is human noise, mine in the recording, about halfway
through. Other than a low frequency rolloff at about

do a similar comparison. Sorry, but for now these files are streaming
only. I have a MKH 8020 and 8050 that I am also playing with over the
