Yes, radio interference changes when the "antenna" conditions change.
You might be overwhelmed by a new radio source, or some shielding
connection may have broken or corroded, increasing the radio
frequency sensitivity.

The radio hypothesis could be tested by going a mile away and seeing
if the effect is the same.
