I hope we do not count this Olympus entry out too soon. They seem to
have been moving toward higher quality devices for a while. I own one of
their little voice recorders, the DS-30, and have to say it does a
remarkable job in a pinch. I keep one in my gear bag. Even with the
built-in (actually unpluggable) mic, it produces wma files that are
quite good. With an external mic to avoid handling noise things get even
better. Given what they have done with their voice recorder/memo-taker
machines with recent models, I am looking forward to hearing this new
one. I am not ready to dismiss it as a "glorified voice recorder," at
least not until I hear it for myself or get a stampede of bad reviews
from the many astute members of this illustrious forum.
