But one should note as well...Soundblade is a mastering program,
Samplitude is for PC, and Garage Band is not an editor. So those
aren't really useful when considering Mac multitrack editing/mixing
software. To suggest those programs are competing with or improving
on PT is not really correct [well maybe Samplitude perhaps].
It's true, no software has the diabolical hardware dongle that PT has.
Digidesign just decided that was the best way to protect their
software. It is a drag, but only really for people like us using
their LE software. When PT was designed it was designed for studios
who would use the TDM systems and thus having proprietary hardware
wasn't a big deal. In fact there wasn't much else to choose from if
you wanted to.
Ok, I fear I am going to start to sound like a PT snob. I don't want
to do that and I apologize if I have taken this whole thread off topic.
Lots of good Mac software...go to it.
