slightly more detail: the mic battery only charges the mic so it will respond to sound waves. It does not make it louder. Condenser mics simply don't work without a power source. This is why they devised PIP Plug in power and 48 volt phantom power for bigger mics. Professional studio mics with tubes have their own separate power supply, and even that only lets the mic work, not amplify it to be louder.
