Hello all. I have another question for the list as I try to narrow my choices for PIP powered omni capsules. Still waiting to hear if the Prime EM-158 is the same as the Bedford Technical Bi-158's.... Anyway, as far as the Shure goes from what I gather it needs a bit more PIP voltage than some of the recorders supply. I very much would like to avoid a separate battery supply if I can help it. The specs on the Sony PCM-D50 recorder has this to say in regards to external mic power: Microphone Input (stereo mini jack): Input impedance: 22k, rated input level: 2.5mV, minimum input level: Message: 0. Subject: 7mV. Supports external mic plug-in power. I know that the Shure's might need more power than the PIP circuits in the Sony MZ-R37's. I wasn't sure if I'd have this same problem with the flash-based PCM-D50. Any opinions/tips/suggestions would be much appreciated. Steve Cox |
