Ventriloquism in Birds?

The bird I am most familiar with that has some ventriloquial qualities is the
Sooty Grouse (Blue Grouse) Dendragapus obscurus. The sound seems to disperse in
many directions making it difficult to pinpoint the bird. In practical terms,
its difficult to know where to aim the microphone. The loudest sound is often
at variance with the actual location of the bird.
