I use this with a ME66 - it is cheaper and lighter than a full basket system. The latter would work in higher winds byt the softie is okay in up to about 8- 12mph winds and I find the wind rusting in vegetation limits what can be done in higher winds anyway. You can homebrew the shockmnount and wind protection but it tends to end up heavier than commercial alternatives. Which is fine for a fixed mount but not so good for a handheld rig. The Softie was the right price/performance for me, and a lot cheaper than the equivalent full basket rig. |
