Since the cable has been taken care of let me chime in on the headphones. My favorites are the Sony mdr-v6. They are closed back so the only sounds you will hear will be from the mic. I have a pair that I got sometime in the 80s and they still sound great. They also fold up for easy trasportation and you can usually get them for around $60.
