Hi Dean

You need an XLR Female to 3.5 mm Stereo Jack Plug. Wired with the tip and ring
of the jack going to pin 2 of the XLR and the earth of the jack plug wired to
pins 1 and 3 of the XLR.

The wiring of the the XLR for information is simple to remember.

The name correspondes to the pins.

X L R
1 2 3

Pin 1 is earth the X
Pin 2 is the live the L
Pin 3 is the return the R (Return as the wiring is 'balanced' as opposed to
unbalanced which is the normal domestic standard.)

Here is a link to cable suitable for your needs, it's the second one down the
page:

http://www.felmicamps.co.uk/products/felcablesandadap.html

This will record the signal equally on both sides of the stereo on your
mini-disc. Something you may want to think about, if you are handy with a
soldering iron, is making a lead which has a pad in one side of the stereo.
Then when you record if the one side should overload you might have it clean on
the 'padded' side. Something to think about for later.

Regards

Phil

Subject: [Nature Recordists] Lead for Sennheiser K6 and Sony MZ-RH1 minidisc

Hi All,

I am very much a novice sound recorder and have recently purchased a Sennheiser
ME67 with K6 powering module for use with a Sony MZ-RH1 Minidisc recorder.

However, I need a lead to connect the powering module to the minidisc recorder
- what sort of lead do I need? and where can I get it from?

On a similar note I also need to purchase some reasonable quality headphones to
use with the Minidisc recorder. What would people recommend for a reasonable
price (i.e considerably less than what the setup has already cost!).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Dean
