Seems like the real difference is that the new MKH-8000 series look
to be quite a bit smaller, and are frequency extended out to 50k and
Message: 60k. 
Subject: Self noise looks pretty similar. If the omni's are as small as
they look in the pictures, might make a nice pair for portability.
But yeah, unless you really want the extended frequency response,
probably no reason to prefer them over the current MKH series.
