I've found that attaching omni mics to small barriers can help bridge
this gap. I've tend to default to head-spaced rigs, but this discussion
is making me rethink that. Maybe a little exaggeration of time arrival
differences isn't such a bad idea.

  Another problem with spaced omnis can be serious mono incompatibility,
especially at low frequencies. I've found that barriers can help reduce
that problem too.
