Hi Phil,
In your recording I see an overall higher noise level and
the difference among the two modes of powering is limited to 3-4 dB
in the range 500Hz-6kHz. I can't know if your higher noise is due to
the mics, to the AD converter, to the gain you applied, or to the
environment. In any case the noise increase due to battery powering
in my microphones is completely different, even if considering the
audible bandwidth only.
