On a PC that I have just tried, it opens it with Windows Media
Player, it is a wav.
It is certainly 'noisier' when running on battery than the 48 volt
phantom. I would say I actually prefer the noise when using the
phantom powering as opposed to the battery.
If it were to give the same result using the Art II phantom power box
then I would certainly get one.
