I find Jamin super-intuitive, all changes get heard in realtime, and you
can set the steepness of the filter from -3 dB to -60 dB (or more), so
that the finesse of the interaction on screen is up to you. In the case
you mention above, you would hear the parametric filter sweep as you
moved the handle. One thing seriously missing is some sort of MIDI
control for Jamin, so that filter parameters could be assigned to
external controls. There is a preset system which can receive messages
from track markers in Ardour, which is supposed to interpolate between
"scenes", but the interpolation doesn't seem to work very well for any
changes longer than a second or two. Work in progress, you'd say. Would
be interesting if someone offered the Jamin devs some institutional
support for making an OSX package, and maybe rolling in some features
requests/fixes like the stuff I mention here. Just gotta find me an
institution... ;-)
