Interesting-- especially how the Rapids better define the
middle/depth of the stereo field where I assume there is more reach.
This feature might have its applications. In general, the Rapids do
seem to have more bottom end and less top end. The hiss of the
Panasonics' is higher, probably more easily filtered. The comparison
is closer than I expected. It sure is great to be able to evaluate
this with one's ears, Tom!

I'm not sure I'd go the way of the Linkowitz mod to address, "high
distortion at moderate SPL's."  We found that using the "Low Sens"
setting in Hi-MD seems to address this problem quite well (some may
recall speculations about the usual Hi-MD pre circuit).  Wild
settings can be loud, true, but more often they aren't and I believe
the mod dramatically lessens sensitivity.  Rob D.
