To change the AA battery in the 722 & 744 is relatively easy. It is just
under the casing. What I am thinking is that if you re-charge the battery in
the recorder rather than a separate charger it should charge the AA battery.
I always thought with these machines that the external battery charged the
clock battery while running the recorder ALSO.
I have never had these problems until upgrading the firmware. Maybe it's
just a coincidence?

Subject: Re: [Nature Recordists] 722 date problems
Hi Martyn,
I had this problem in firmware 1.74. Then I sent the unit back. SD
replaced with a new internal AA battery, updated to firmware 2.03. They
said the internal AA battery is faulty. But even with the new internal
AA battery, my 744t also asks me to reset the bloody date every time I
turn on the 744t!! I have already sent back the 744t back to SD again
yesterday. I thought that I may be the only one. So, there may be
something wrong.
