I've started using Scene Name to give the file a meaningful name of up
to 9 characters. I also want to know the date and time of recording.
These are recorded in the metadata of each file. The sound editing
programme that I'm using, Adobe Audition with Adobe Bridge, can be
used to search and organize files in accordance with that information,
but I find this cumbersome.
Consequently, I'm going with a different solution. This involves using
Scene Name to give the file a meaningful name, and recording with time
code running, the user bits assigned to the date and the code set to
time of day. If this is done, a programme called BWF Widget Pro
(www.bwfwidget.com) makes it possible to find, organize and display
files in accordance with one or more of the following: a meaningful
file name, the date the file was recorded and the time of day that the
recording was made. This programme is also a metadata editor, and it
will also play back files without the need to open them in another
programme.
