The recordings were done over a period of 40 minutes without moving. I was =
just doing bacground stuff for another purpose and picked up these birds/an=
imals in the process. As a city kid, when I listened I got curious about so=
me of the sounds. In fact, it's why I went looking for a site like this. =

=0D
I did want to know what the bird in the background of some of the files was=
, but figured that asking "just one more question" might be pushing it.=0D
=0D
If you don't mind me asking, what part of the Maritimes are you from?=0D

Thanks,=0D

I had a chance to listen to the files today=0D
=0D
'bird' 1 - red squirrel=0D
bird 2 - downy woodpecker=0D
bird 3 - northern waterthrush=0D
bird 4 - downy woodpecker drumming=0D
'bird' 5 - red squirrel=0D

I grew up birding in the Maritimes, so am quite sure of the IDs=0D
=0D
Many woodpeckers can be identified by their drumming. In this case, the=0D
downy drum is a fair bit slower than the hairy's would be. As well, I'm=0D
guessing files 2 and 4 were recorded in the same area - there is a=0D
yellow-bellied flycatcher ('pu-weee') calling in the background of both=0D
cuts.=0D

Thanks Martyn and to everyone else who replied,=0D

I'll delete the sound files tonight to free up the space.=0D
=0D
I gather from another current thread that there are participants in this=0D
site who have more space than Yahoo for uploading files. Maybe there's some=
=0D
point in doing a notice to that effect as a sticky (if that's the right=0D
word).=0D
=0D
Anyway, I'm much obliged.=0D

Cheers,=0D
