Just a brief 2nd follow up on Geoff's comments. I have now examined
the various recordings available online and on my reference CDs of
dunnocks and coal tits, plus one or two more of my own recordings of
confirmed *visible* dunnocks and coat tits, and agree with Geoff. I do
find it astonishing though, that these two birds could sing in duet so
to speak, but the sonograms do match much more closely to dunnock with
coal tit than I first thought!
So, with the robin ticking away at the beginning, and the duet later,
I'm still trying to figure out what made the single cluck right at the
start !
My grasshopper warbler has also turned out to be that same d*mn robin
!!! I never knew robins could chirp so rapidly :-)
Thanks again,
