No modification needed for WL183 mics. All you need is a custom
Y-cable to connect their mini-xlrs to a 3.5mm stereo plug.

The 183s are at the high end of the "low noise" group. Quieter than
cheap 1-point stereo mics, but noisier than more expensive mics. Next
quieter would be the Telinga EM-23s, a little pricier and a lot
quieter. If you're really into "soft ambiences" I'd go with the
Telingas. Klas can deliver them with a 3.5mm stereo plug on a pair.
