I had completely forgotten that Rode was working
on this mic-- Peter Freeman hinted about it in
early 2004. You're right; its not a beauty. One
could take it off of the flash shoe mount and
place it within another shock mount. Performance
might benefit too. ~11 ounces, is much lighter
than the NT-4. Its self-noise is close to the
NT-4's (16dBA). Its 6mV/Pa sensitivity is low
compared to 12mV/Pa for the NT-4. The ample gain
on a Hi-MD recorder could come in handy. Of
course, with one, fixed, X-Y pattern, the stereo
image will have to show some merit. Aimed at the
1/8" stereo mini-plug market all the way which is
probably not a bad strategy. Only thing is,
"SVM" gets stuck on my tongue. Rob D.
