I can tell you a bit about the VP-88 as I have one. I like it a lot and
it is very useful, from nature recording to orchestral and studio use -
e=3Dven as drum overhead in live PA. But it has a rather noisy side
capsule, which Shure reps at AES once told me is they just can't get a
quiet element... specious excuse perhaps, but suffice it to say the
side is noisier than the mid by quite a bit though I have never
measured it.

Don't know the Sennheiser.
