Curt, thanks for the clarification. So there are presently four
Hi-MD recorders that can transfer recordings from Hi-MD to Mac:
-- at high speed
-- in digital form
-- via USB cable connection
-- without digital resampling
-- without digital to analog to digital translation
(required for analog recorder line-out to Mac line-in file transfer)
The first is the new MZ-RH1 ($300 to $325 USD)
The next three are Sony's "professional" models. These models include
a Sony ECM-DS70P microphone ($50 value)
MZ-M10 ($275 to $300)
MZ-M100 ($250 to $300)
MZ-M200 ($375 to $400)
All other Sony Hi-MD recorders are unable to upload files to a
Macintosh.
If you have a PC, any Hi-MD recorder, even the least expensive models,
can transfer files from recorder to PC using Sony's Sonic Stage
software. One example is the MZ-NH700, a discontinued model that costs
about $125 used on eBay. A few dealers still have new stock of this
model.
