The price is by running yard, and the material is 60" wide. So one yard 
is a piece 36" by 60", not a square yard. But I agree it's going to be a 
hassle for whoever takes care of this.

Note if you are designing something make sure you are including a seam 
allowance. I generally allow at least a inch for that when working out 
how much to buy even though the seam may be less.
