I also have the DPA8011, and it's a superb hydrophone. I'm amazed at
how much low end it picks up, it's frequency range is quite amazing.
Martyn, it's even gone up since you bought yours. It was selling for
around 2k three years ago, it's now up to around $2500.
But whereas most cheap hydrophones sound 'tinny' and lack much low
end, a high quality one like the DPA or the CR should give you a
pretty rich and full sound.
Kent, we should get together and compare the one you bought and the
DPA. The CR definitely goes much higher in response to the DPA, I'm
curious how much stuff is actually up there in that range. Might be
fun to check them out side by side.
